Hey, folks!
For the past five months or so, I’ve been on a hiatus from playing solo tabletop RPGs. Now that I’m back, I’m itching to play some Ironsworn. ⚔️
Before I took a break, I published four sessions of my very first Ironsworn campaign, The First City. Coming back to it, I realized that I wasn’t completely happy with how I had set up my character. 😕
I wanted to change my stats to better match the type of character I want to portray. Unfortunately, changing these stats would (theoretically) affect some of the dice rolls I made in my first four sessions.
And so, I’ve decided to start all over!
My world truths will remain the same, as will my character’s backstory. But this “reset” gives me a chance to modify my character’s stats and assets to better align with my vision for the character (and start her story afresh after a long hiatus).
In addition, I’m going to write these new play reports in prose (as opposed to the bullet point summaries I used for my original sessions) and feature some nifty new graphics I created to depict my character info, moves, and dice rolls.
So, overall, expect the same general storyline but with an updated character, new dice rolls, different outcomes, and a fresh new format and graphics.
Without further ado, here’s my updated character:
Lucia is a 19-year-old young woman living on her own in the Havens after the deaths of her parents. She is descended from the Skulde—the savage clans who ruthlessly invaded the kingdoms of the Old World—and as a result has been ostracized by most of Ironlander society.
Her weapon of choice is the bow and arrow. She’s quick and agile and excels at ranged combat (Edge). A tough life surviving with her family in the Havens has made her strong (Iron), observant, and smart (Wits).
Although she’s courageous, her weak point is her low sociability (Heart). A lifetime of cruel rejection by her fellow Ironlanders has muted any desire to reach out or share their company. She also has little capacity for deception or intrigue (Shadow).
Lucia’s one consistent companion is her loyal Hound. She is a talented Archer and an Outcast with few social ties (I’m leaving Lucia’s background bonds blank for now to allow myself to discover them organically as I play the game).
Lucia’s destiny (unbeknownst to her) and background vow is to establish a great city—the first of its kind—in the Ironlands.
What Now?
I’m going to update the Introduction and two “Session 0” posts (Our Truths and Character Creation) for The First City to reference the new direction I’m taking with the series.
The four sessions from the original version of this campaign will still be available (marked as “OUTDATED”). Check them out if you want to see how the campaign changes from one iteration to the next.
The first session of this relaunched series will be posted soon, so keep an eye out!
In the meantime, I’d love to get your feedback on another idea I have. I’m considering creating a podcast version of each of my sessions, but I’d like to know if people would be interested in listening. Please take a moment to vote in the poll below—and, even better, leave a comment to share what you’d like to hear in an actual play podcast!

Just wanted to come back here to your beginning (or relaunch) to say I subscribed once I saw your wonderful layout and style for your play through, the way you show the characters and moves on here is gorgeous. But I also just had your YouTube channel recommended to me in the algorithms and I love listening along as you describe the story and thoughts process. Thanks so much for all the work you do on this!
This is timely as I’ve just purchased the Ironsworn rulebook myself, so I’ll be following along here.
I’m not sure about podcast version, as it could get quite long.
